Fast Cars and Fast Cash Set for August 21st at USA Raceway
Kevin Montgomery Tucson, Arizona (July 22nd, 2010) – Race fans mark your calendar for August 21st as the winged warriors of the American Sprint Car Series will make an additional appearance at Tucson’s USA Raceway.
The popular series was slated for a half dozen events at USA Raceway prior to capping the season off with the 43rd Annual Kronik Energy Drinks Western World Championships but due to unforeseen issues with another Arizona venue the date will be moved to the series’ home track. August 21st was originally scheduled for Prescott Valley Speedway, however, PVR was unable to keep the date but hopes to secure sponsorship for future events.
“We are glad to pick up the scheduled date for the Wing Sprint cars” commented Benji Lyons of USA Raceway. “We feel it is the right thing for the racers and it gives our fans one more chance to see more sprint car racing in there very own backyard. There is not a week that goes by without ten to twenty phone calls or emails stressing for more wing races.
The USA Factory Stocks will also join the card along with the ultra competitive X-Modified division in a special event that will pay nearly double the norm with an unprecedented $500 waiting for each winner. But wait, it doesn’t stop there! USA Raceway will provide 4 FREE tickets to each racer that is currently in the top 15 of their championship chase. Additionally, those drivers with perfect attendance will receive another 4 FREE tickets allowing their families, sponsors, co-workers, or even the neighbors to take part in the ultimate USA Raceway experience for absolutely FREE!
Lyons went on to say “The Factory Stocks and the X-Mods are very popular at USA Raceway and there car counts continue to grow wild. We were able to increase the purse for the Hornets on July 3rd and UniFirst stepped up for the $600 to win Super Stock race on July 10th, we feel this is a perfect time to raise the purse for these two groups and reward them with a big payday.”
Both USA Factory Stocks and USA X-Mods are in a waging point’s battle that only separates the top 10 by roughly 200 points and with big money on the line for the series championship, every race counts as does every position. USA Raceway payed out nearly $17,000 in champ fund money in 2009 with $1000 going to Dusty Gauthier for his 2009 Factory Stock Title.
The Hornets will complete the field for the added August date and neither Hornet division is exempt from a tight point’s battle! The Jones brothers are making up lost time after missing the first race giving Jim Hock a 142 point advantage in RWD Hornet action. Duane Jones, who pocketed $800 for winning the 2009 RWD Hornet Championship, is tied with brother Jerry Jones for second in the 2010 battle while Stephen Lee sits out front of the FWD standings in his quest for an appearance on stage at the USA Awards Banquet.
USA Raceway will return to action this Saturday, July 24th, when the Barnett Harley Davidson UMP West Modifieds return to the Southwest’s premier short track. The UMP Modifieds will be joined by the Unifirst Super Stocks, Factory Stocks and Hornets. The racing excitement begins when general admission tickets go on sale at 4pm for only $12, racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm. Suite Access Passes will allow race fans the opportunity to enjoy the races from USA Raceway’s VIP Suite. Enjoy the races in luxury for only $25!
