R.J. Johnson Rolls to ASCS Canyon Region Hall of Fame Classic Triumph

TUCSON, Ariz. (October 4th, 2009) – Lonnie Wheatley, TUCSON, Ariz. (October 10, 2009) – R.J. Johnson rallied for his first Discount Tire Co. ASCS Canyon Region victory of the season by topping Saturday night's Ninth Annual Hall of Fame Classic at USA Raceway.

Johnson raced forward from the seventh starting position to take the win in the 30-lapper ahead of pole starter Stevie Sussex, with current series points leader Charles Davis, Jr., claiming the show position.

Ronnie Clark raced from 19th to fourth, with Nathan High climbing ten positions to round out the top five.  Daniel Hutto was sixth, with Nick Aiuto, Mike Martin, Thomas Ogle and Bruce St. James completing the top ten.

With 32 cars checked in for the night's festivities, Davis won the opening heat race with micro grad Dalton Gabbard snaring heat race win number two in his ASCS debut.  Chris Bonneau won the third heat, with Rick Ziehl best in the fourth and final heat.  Ziehl, who won the Hank Arnold Memorial last month, was forced pit side at the midway point in the feature event and credited with a 19th place finish.

Martin won the night's 12-lap "B" Main before racing from 17th to eighth in the main event.

Ryan Murphy and Justin Quinn both flipped in heat race action, Jessica Van Dyke and Jody Wirth tumbled in the "B" Main and Andrew Reinbold turned over in the main event.

Justin Harvil topped Hon-Dah Resort and Casino SCRA Factory Stock action for his first win at USA Raceway.  Harvil picked up the victory but not without a tough battle!  32 cars made the field and a very action packed A feature.

Terry Hill grabbed his second win of the year in Super Stock action by topping the 20 lap feature.  Hill also closed the gap on point leader Marty Hussak who was sidelined late in the race with mechanical problems.  With only two races left in the season the championship remains in the balance with the winner likely to be decided at “Championship Night” on Halloween.

James Fleming took top honors in the X-Mod feature while Brian Sterh captured the Dwarf Car feature.
