TUCSON, Ariz. (June 29, 2011) – Rick Ziehl continued his recent hot streak in Sunoco Fuel ASCS Southwest Region action by winning Saturday night’s 25-lap main event atop the 3/8-mile USA Raceway clay oval.
After starting on the front row outside, Ziehl assumed the point after battling his way to second when race-long leader Kyle McCutcheon flipped in the closing circuits.  Ziehl went on to post his third series wins in a row aboard the Wesmar-powered Lucas Oil No. 20z Maxim.
It was an emotional win as well, as Ziehl carried the green No. 1 top wing of long time friend, competitor, and Arizona racing icon Rick Sipes, who passed away just days before.
Ziehl was chased to the stripe by Calvin Landis, with Joshua Hodges, Dalten Gabbard and Perry McMillan rounding out the top five.  John Carney II was sixth, with 18th-starter Mike Rux, Jr., Jody Williams, 15th-starter Steve Stone and 17th-starter Koty McGullam completing the top ten.
Joshua Williams and McCutcheon topped heat race action.
USRA Modifieds were one again on the chase of the black and yellow 3d machine which came down to the wire with a hard charge from the 06 of Cody Alverez, but was never enough to get by the GRT by Team Speed of Chad Ayers. Crossing the finish line behind Ayers and Alverez was the revived 88c of Brian Clark, the 55 of Mike Brandon, and the 6 of Dane Jorgenson.
Pavement transplant Dustin Jones showed he has what it takes to win in the dirt as he beat point leader Terry Churchwell to the checker flag for his first Factory Stock and USA Raceway win of his career. Brian Stehr outlasted a field of 20 plus Dwarf Cars to take home the trophy ahead of Ryan Irish and Ryan Hennesey.
