Kevin Montgomery TUCSON, Ariz. (May 6th, 2011) – While most of the ASCS wingless warriors will take a weekend of rest in preparation for the May 14th Armed Forces Appreciation Day, “Chargin” Charles Davis will climb aboard “Smokin” Joe Morale’s ride for a shot at ASCS Winged action.

The 2-time and defending Sunoco Fuels ASCS Canyon Region champion will make his first appearance of the 2011 season in ASCS Southwest competition.  Davis, who has finished in the top five all but one time in wingless starts this year, will join the rest of the top Wing contenders for a shot at Mother’s Day glory in the 2nd Annual Mother’s Day Race for the Cure at Tucson’s USA Raceway.

Davis will be in the middle of a heated championship point battle led by 3-time champion Rick Ziehl who is narrowly holding off the youngster Joshua Hodges.  Ziehl holds a two point advantage over Hodges with fellow New Mexico racer John Carney II slightly behind in third.

It is Arizona teammates Calvin Landis and Josh Williams rounding out the top five.

The 2nd Annual Mothers Day Race for The Cure Benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation will jump start this weekends ASCS Wing Sprint Car action.  The UniFirst Super Stocks, Factory Stocks, Southwest Modlites and Hornets will join the card for a huge benefit supporting a great cause.  A full night of action begins when general admission tickets go on sale at 4pm for only $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors, Students and Military.  Racing action will begin promptly at 6:45pm.
