RC Whitwell Wins Copper on Dirt Modified Championship

Kevin Montgomery TUCSON, Ariz. (February 19^th, 2011) – RC Whitwell made a late race pass on Royal Jones but Jones battled back as the duo raced side by side for several laps until Jones bobbled in turn three bringing out the caution.  After restarting, Whitwell would lead the final laps of the 25-Lap feature and garner his first Copper on Dirt championship.
Holly Jones raced to the stripe just behind Whitwell making for her second podium finish of the weekend.  Holly, who won the preliminary event on Friday night, surfaced as the USAR Western Modified point leader.

Holly, Chad Ayers and Ron Schreiner battled for the last laps as they crossed the line just inches apart with Ayers settling for third place and Schreiner collecting the fourth place finish.

Logan Drake, son of Steve Drake, rounded out the top five.

USA Raceway is set to kick off the 2011 season when ASCS Non Wing Sprint Cars open the show on March 12^th.  The season opener will start the 2011 points battle for the Factory Stocks, X-Modifieds and ASCS2 Micro Sprints.  General admission tickets will go on sale for only $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors, Students and Military and racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm.

There will be an opportunity for race fans to get a preview of the 2011 racers at an open practice slated for March 11^th.  The festivities will kick off at 6:00pm with grandstand admission free for all those who want a sneak preview.
