Drake Dominates Copper on Dirt Finale

Kevin Montgomery TUCSON, Ariz. (February 19^th, 2011) – Steve Drake captured the finale of the West Coast Shootout vs. Total Seal Late Model Series giving California bragging rights and the 5^th Annual Copper on Dirt Championship.

Drake hustled to the front and held off charges from Friday night’s winner Nick Bartels and podium finisher Clay Daly to notch his second victory at Tucson’s USA Raceway in the last five months.  Bartels settled for the runner spot while Daly and RC Whitwell battled for the final podium spot.

Whitwell spun early in the 30-Lap feature delegating himself to a 20^th re-start position thrilling the crowd as he raced through traffic to pass Daly for the third spot on the final lap. 

Daly would follow with a close fourth place finish and Lonnie Parker Jr. completing the top five.

USA Raceway is set to kick off the 2011 season when ASCS Non Wing Sprint Cars open the show on March 12^th.  The season opener will start the 2011 points battle for the Factory Stocks, X-Modifieds and ASCS2 Micro Sprints.  General admission tickets will go on sale for only $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors, Students and Military and racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm.

There will be an opportunity for race fans to get a preview of the 2011 racers at an open practice slated for March 11^th.  The festivities will kick off at 6:00pm with grandstand admission free for all those who want a sneak preview.
