Herrera Hustles to New Years Victory
Kevin Montgomery Tucson, Arizona (January 1st, 2011) – Johnny Herrera hustled to day one victory at the Budweiser Roger McCluskey Classic after he and defending Roger McCluskey Champion Rick Ziehl earned front row starting spots for the preliminary $2000 to win feature.
Herrera passed Ziehl mid way through the feature as the two sprint car aces battled it out for the remainder of the 25-Lap feature with Herrera edging out the win.
Craig Stidham made the long tow from Fresno, California and took home the show position just ahead of Joshua Hodges and Josh Pelkey.
Pat Carney took top honors in the X-Mod feature earning the top starting position for tomorrow’s $1000 to win Roger McCluskey finale while Landon Cling did the same in the Modlite division. Both drivers will be among the eight drivers locked in to Sunday’s feature.

The Roger McCluskey Classic will continue this Sunday afternoon with racing action scheduled to start at 1pm.
While top sprint car drivers will be competing for $2k on the preliminary night and a $3k on the championship night, both X-Mods and Modlites will join the field for an unprecedented $1k winners share of the event. All three divisions will compete in full shows for both days and the champions will be crowned on Sunday evening.
